  • Liza Ketchum - www.lizaketchum.com Liza is an author of middle grade and young adult fiction and non-fiction. For years, we've been in a writer's group together with Karen Hesse and Bob MacLean.

  • Suse MacDonald - www.susemacdonald.com Suse is an author/illustrator who primarily works in collage. She lives nearby and we are in an illustrator crit. group together.

  • SCBWI - Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators www.scbwi.org SCBWI is a great source of support and information for authors and illustrators of children's books as well as for people trying to get started.

  • Purple Crayon - www.underdown.org Harold Underdown, an editor, has put together a site packed with information on writing and illustrating children's books. This site has good links.

Information about children's literature-useful to teachers and librarians

  • The Children's Literature Web Guide - www.clwg.org This site has interesting information and links relevant to children's literature. Unfortunately they have not updated their links since 1998, so many authors who have since created websites, myself included, are not listed! Nonetheless, it's a good resource.

  • Kay Vandergrift's Special Interest Page - www.scils.rutgers.edu/special/kay/kayhp2.html A site especially useful to teachers and librarians - much information about children's literature.

  • Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County www.brarydog.net Go to the 'Children's Desk'. This is a high-tech site, which might be of interest to teachers, librarians and parents.

  • www.bookhive.org An interesting list of children's books.

Collections:

  • Mazza Collection - Art from Children's Books www.mazzacollection.org/ The Mazza Collection, in Findlay, Ohio, has an extensive teaching collection of original art from children's picture books. They put on traveling exhibits and have conferences several times a year.

  • Kerlan Collection Website coming - summer 2001 The Kerlan Collection is an extensive research collection of manuscripts, sketches and finished art from children's books. It is housed at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
